The Challenge: Bring H.E.R.B.E.R.T (Hendricks Extraordinary Roving Bus for Exceptionally Refined Travel) to life!
OVERVIEW
Working together with Ambient, we made sure every detail was accounted for in order to create this immersive, experiential brand experience.
We took a vintage Routemaster bus, stripped it bare and gave it the complete Hendricks treatment; full external and internal vinyl wrap, tweed upholstery, bespoke mobile bar installed, set dressing and taxidermy.
With only 3 weeks to take a red double-decker bus and transform it into a travelling giant cucumber, our team worked everyday including weekends to meet the deadline.
Starting with detailed CAD drawings and unique branding, we digitally printed over 200m of wrapping vinyl to cover the exterior and interior of the bus. After 1 week, our expert vehicle wrappers had completely covered the entire bus, making it totally unrecognisable.
Next came the interior set dressing… with only 2 weeks to find Hendricks inspired furniture and fabrics, we were challenged with tight lead times. We dressed the bus with antique lamps, tweed fabrics, vintage radios and rugs to name a few. With the bus being unique, we had to bespoke build a fully functional bar, mahogany laminated tables and bookcase. We even added taxidermy inside to add to the Hendricks experience!
H.E.R.B.E.R.T had to be completely road worthy so even the finest details were included such as the drivers operators licence and legal information.
We even added our new audience measurement software to capture the number of astonished passers-by that were looking at the bus as it drove past. After the London routes alone, we had 5,986 camera impacts and counting!
On to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival driver!
